Ananda Retreat Near

Kriyananda passed away April 21, 2013, but leaves many writings
as well as Ananda, a World Brotherhood Community he founded. Kriyananda was a
direct disciple of Paramahansa Yogananda. The Ananda setting is exquisite
forest and clear space conducive to spiritual practices.
Visitors can come for different periods of time and stay in semi-private or
private rooms or do tent camping. The large center is located near Nevada City
in north-eastern California.
As I had a camper-van I chose the tent camping which worked out fine. I will
have to say that the vegetarian meals were absolutely delicious and inspired my
own cooking. The atmosphere is congenial and friendly and of course
inspirational.
You can also arrange a personal retreat where you can spend as much quiet time
as you choose, or just enjoy simply walking the grounds listening to the
melodious sounds of nature.
Personally, I like the balance of spiritual classes with plenty of time for
walking in nature. Its grandeur never fails to bring me peace of mind and inner
calm.
Ananda is located on 700 acres, has its own distribution center with writings
of Yogananda, Kriyanda and others in the field of spirituality. Plus you can
enjoy buying from their marketplace.
Driving directions from Sacramento: Drive east on Rt. 80 toward Reno. In Auburn
take Rt. 49 north through Grass Valley and Nevada City. After passing through
Nevada City turn north on Rt. 49 toward North San Juan. Cross the Yuba River.
Turn right onto Tyler Foote Road until arriving at The Expanding Light and
Ananda Village, on the left.
Nevada City, elevation 2,477 feet, is 60 miles east and north beyond Sacramento
to give you an idea of the location. And, Nevada City to Ananda is 14 miles,
about a half hour drive. It is in beautiful woods and open spaces. The map at

Ananda Village is a place to feel uplifted and learn useful spiritual living
techniques.
