Introduction

Following are photos of dancers and accompanists of two Dutch folk dance groups in traditional costumes gracing the main square in Emmen, The Netherlands, on Saturday, April 13, 2002.

The joy and vibrance of the dancers and accompanists was contagious.

Hieronder foto's van dansers met hun muzikale begeleiders van twee Nederlandse volksdansgezelschappen, die op zaterdag 13 april 2002 in traditionele klederdracht het centrale plein van Emmen (Drente) opsierden.

Het plezier en de levendigheid van dansers en musici was aanstekelijk.

"In 1956 the folkloregroup was founded in Zandeweer, a small village situated on the flat land behind the dikes in the Dutch province Groningen. In a series of successful performances around the whole world the group has, dancing and singing, expressed the characteristic spirit of the people of Groningen ever since. ... " (1)
