Our Year 2000 Travel Route Around America
Susan Helene Kramer and Stan Schaap on the road …
During the year 2000 my husband, Stan Schaap, and I traveled by car in a big circle coast to coast around America. Since we have family on both coasts and Chicago, we made sure we spent the most time at those points. Outlined here is the route we took.
We began by flying in to Chicago from our home in The Netherlands. We rented a car and drove southwest from Chicago through St. Louis, Missouri, to Oklahoma City. Then west through Albuquerque, New Mexico, Flagstaff, Arizona, Kingman, Arizona, Needles, California, Los Angeles, California and north along the coast to Santa Barbara, California.
The trip to the east coast reversed as before to Oklahoma City, then east to Memphis, and Nashville, Tennessee, Knoxville, Kentucky, up the blue ridge mountains through Manassas, Virginia and around Washington, D.C. to Ocean City, Maryland. Then backtracked north to the Pennsylvania turnpike north of Western Maryland, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Toleda, Ohio, and returned to our starting point in Chicago. 3 weeks, 10,000 miles.
