This lesson is to learn how groups of sets make up multiplication problems.

Skill level: Age 9+

1st Example

4 x 5 = 20

To represent the answer, 20 students form a single group in the front or center of the room or outdoors.

The students then arrange themselves into either 4 groups of 5 students, or 5 groups of 4 students.

2nd Example

3 x 4 = 12

To represent the answer, 12 students form a single group in the front or center of the room or outdoors.

The students then arrange themselves into either 3 groups of 4 students, or 4 groups of 3 students.
